Medicine Men

Acoustic Poetry

Sounds in layers pulse through the air
Richness of color intoxicates the ear

Infused with memories in each bar
Between the lines lie shooting stars

Vivid impressions blended and blurred
Decoded feelings and images reverb

Canvas of texture of poetry in song
Stanza of life’s experience prolonged

Sparking dreams in an audible sensation
Interpreting intent of personal invention

Intoxicating verve willingly exposed
The art of language in verse and in prose

Clay from the earth molded to form
Crafted from wood cherry and warm

Touch of the hand is the soul’s pleasure
Music’s expression measure to measure

Black and Blue

I’m black and blue
Sitting in the dark of night
Waiting for you
To usher in the morning light

I’m black and blue
Time bruised and battered
Dragging my shoes
Making life’s hard harder

I’m black and blue
My ears are ringing
Van’s out of tune
I can’t hear what he’s singing

I’m black and blue
Reading the daily blotter
Making a break through
Wringing the bloody water

I’m black and blue
Wishing for second sight
Sorting lies from truth
Living one man’s life

I’m black and blue
Reciting eternal rhymes
Trying to stay cool
Healing the pains of time
